Johor production ramp
Vertiv’s 236,000-square-foot factory in Senai, Johor, is increasing production. Asia operations and service operations vice president Andrew Whall said 15–20% of production lines were operating at its July 1 launch.
The factory has operated since the first quarter of 2026, with XDU shipments underway. Phase two adds liquid-cooling lines and SmartRun capacity; phase three remains in planning.
Whall expects technical production capacity towards the end of the second quarter or early third quarter of 2027. The factory is expected to create up to 500 skilled jobs and serve Malaysia and regional markets including Australia and South Korea.
The product portfolio includes:
- CoolChip coolant distribution units;
- Power Module and Power Skid prefabricated systems;
- SmartRun integrated overhead infrastructure.

Liquid-cooling technology
Vertiv acquired CoolTera in December 2023. The United Kingdom business, founded in 2016, designs and manufactures coolant distribution units, secondary fluid networks and manifolds for data-centre liquid cooling. It had worked with Vertiv as a technology partner for three years before the acquisition agreement, with deployments in data centres and supercomputing systems.
The agreement covered CoolTera’s shares and certain assets from an affiliate, including contracts, patents, trademarks and intellectual property. Vertiv began producing liquid-cooling solutions using the acquired technology and know-how in February 2024, two months after the purchase.

Asian manufacturing network
Vertiv inaugurated another thermal-management factory in Chakan, Pune, on January 11, 2024. Its third manufacturing facility in India complemented existing operations in Ambernath and Pune. The 210,000-square-foot site, equivalent to 19,510 square metres, serves domestic and international markets across data centres, telecommunications, commercial buildings and industrial applications.
The Pune plant supports cooling solutions from 200 watts to more than 2 megawatts, including chillers, custom air-handling units, thermal-wall units, direct-expansion equipment and rack-cooling systems. Its facilities include performance-testing laboratories, a customer experience centre and design-support capabilities. The site is within an India Green Building Council-compliant industrial park.
