Industrial fluids and automated production
Lukoil has completed its Volgograd complex for greases, cutting fluids and antifreeze, with annual capacity of 70,000 tonnes. More than 230 products are planned for mining, metalworking, mechanical engineering, transport maintenance and industrial equipment servicing.
The facility combines robotic warehouse storage with self-cleaning pipelines and mechanized unloading of bulk components. Lukoil says the cascade technology installed for grease production improves manufacturing efficiency and product quality. The investment project uses state support through a special investment contract, known as SPIC.

Construction and the earlier investment estimate
Construction of the Volgograd region complex began in February 2024. The project then envisaged a site covering 27,900 square metres and completion in 2026. Its proposed annual production capacity was up to 70,000 tonnes of greases and cutting fluids.
On 3 July 2024, Volgograd region Governor Andrei Bocharov put preliminary investment at more than US$1 billion. He said the project was proceeding on schedule and linked it to domestic production of high-technology lubricants and cooling fluids. That figure was an estimate during construction.

Products planned for the complex
- Greases.
- Cutting fluids.
- Antifreeze.
Lukoil's lubricants operations in July 2024 extended across nine company-owned production sites, two joint ventures and 25 contracted plants around the world.
The company's Russian manufacturing network combined full-cycle oil production at the Perm and Volgograd refineries with oil blending at plants in Tyumen and Torzhok.

The February 2024 project plans provided for more than 200 jobs for residents of the region. The complex design incorporated requirements for energy conservation, energy efficiency, production safety and environmental safety. The Volgograd refinery site already accommodated Intesmo grease production.
In July 2024, Lukoil produced approximately 800 lubricant varieties. The Volgograd construction project was intended to expand domestic manufacturing of greases and cutting fluids within that wider lubricants business.
