US production and supplier investment

GE Aerospace plans nearly USD 1 billion of investment in US factories and its supply chain during 2025, alongside approximately 5,000 manufacturing and engineering hires. The programme covers more than two dozen communities across 16 states.

Planned spending includes USD 500 million for production capacity, more than USD 100 million for innovative materials and parts, and over USD 100 million for external suppliers. Selected projects include:

  • USD 113 million for Greater Cincinnati facilities and equipment;
  • USD 70 million for a Muskegon hot-section component expansion.

Earlier manufacturing commitments

In March 2024, GE Aerospace announced a separate USD 650 million manufacturing and supply-chain programme. Nearly USD 450 million was earmarked for 22 facilities across 14 states for machinery, inspection equipment, building upgrades, test cells and safety enhancements. Supplier partners in the United States were assigned USD 100 million in the plan, with approximately another USD 100 million intended for international sites.

That programme included USD 46 million across four North Carolina facilities: Asheville, Durham, West Jefferson and Wilmington. Planned purchases for component manufacturing and engine assembly included high-precision machines, inspection equipment and specialised tooling.

Maintenance capacity across the engine lifecycle

A further commitment announced in July 2024 concerned maintenance, repair and overhaul facilities worldwide. GE Aerospace planned more than USD 1 billion over five years for this service network, including engine test cells, equipment and component-repair capability.

The initiative included enhanced inspection techniques intended to shorten turnaround times. Regional repair and overhaul facilities were to receive USD 250 million during 2024 for expansion, machines, tooling and safety improvements.

A new Services Technology Acceleration Center near Cincinnati was scheduled to open in September 2024 to accelerate the deployment of service and inspection technologies.

The service network handles engine disassembly and reassembly, maintenance, repair, inspection and testing.
