Arkeus has opened an advanced manufacturing facility in Ormeau, Queensland, supported by AUD$1.48 million from the state’s Sovereign Industry Development Fund. Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie and Member for Coomera Michael Crandon unveiled the site on 8th July 2026. The company expects the facility to increase its manufacturing capability twentyfold.

Production, repair and recruitment

Founder and chief executive Simon Olsen said the Gold Coast expansion would add production and repair capabilities for specialised AI-powered optical sensors. Four senior Queensland-based employees have already joined, including Global Vice President of Manufacturing Andrew Sim. Arkeus plans to grow its Queensland team by up to 50 members over the coming years.

Manufacturing expansion funding

Arkeus raised AUD$25 million in a Series A financing round announced on 15th May 2026. QIC Ventures led the round. New investors participated alongside existing backers. The investor group included:

  • New participants R+ VC, Folklore Ventures and DYNE Ventures.
  • Returning investors Main Sequence, Salus Ventures and Beaten Zone Venture Partners.

The company earmarked the capital for global expansion, the establishment of advanced manufacturing capabilities in Queensland and the United States, and faster delivery of sensing systems into operational use across allied defence markets. Prequalified supplier access

Arkeus also joined the Australian Government’s Border Protection Technologies Panel, which commenced on 1st July 2026. The panel gives government agencies access to prequalified suppliers of specialist border-protection technologies and services. Its initial five-year term runs through to 30th June 2031.

The appointment concerns Arkeus’s AI-powered sensing systems for autonomous platforms operating in environments including land and maritime borders. Simon Olsen welcomed the opportunity to support the Department of Home Affairs. The company described the appointment as part of its work supporting Australia’s border-security and national-security requirements.
